Rants: WTF?

Okay, I'll admit that I just don't get it. I mean, really -- how could squads of laser-guided underwater robots, armed with state-of-the-art diamond saws, so completely fail to accomplish a simple task that even Joe the Plumber -- despite the fact that his name's not really "Joe" and he's not really a plumber -- wielding only the primitive tools hanging on his belt... Oh. Wait...

....never mind.

In a nutshell, BP has been trying to get a solution that allows them to keep sucking oil while trying to minimize the damage. In other words, they were looking for a spigot as opposed to a manhole cover (at least that's how my engineering friends explained it).

BP was concerned from profiting from the leak even as it was fucking up the entire Gulf region. The irony: the once water-burning Lake Erie will now be a more ecologically sound beach to visit than anything in the South.

Shit like this is why I am TOTALLY AGAINST "tort reform" as Republicans and some so-called libertarians propose. BP is allowed to get away with artificial caps on a massive ecological destruction, therefore I want no artificial caps on a jury's right to determine damages, punitive or otherwise.

Can't wait to see how your boy at that Other Blog, and his Republican cohorts spin this shit to make it Obama's fault. As one prescient writer put it, this is NOT Obama's Katrina; this is BP and the GOP's Chernobyl.

Unfortunately, you've got that exactly right. You should not be befriending those engineers though. Spengler was right about those dudes: there will be no end to war until engineers refuse to design weapons.
