Rodak Remembers: Baseball Quiz #15

X
This one goes out to Moose, my Philly Phanatic Phriend:

Your clue is that these two Philly greats are in the same configuration here as they would have been on the field of play. The contemplative fellow on the bottom, sadly, passed away just this year. Who are they?

Richie Ashburn and Robin Roberts. Whitey (Ashburn) was an awesome announcer after he played, especially paired with Harry Kalas. Roberts had some great quotes. I love the one where he mentions how he didn't discriminate who he gave up home runs to.

Thanks for posting these. I actually get a chance to say hello. It's been crazy lately.

Cheers.

Well, Moose is from Philly, so it's only right, I guess...

He's right. You can't live in this town without knowing that answer. Those two were the most popular of the 1950 Whiz Kids (I'm not that old but love baseball history). Whitey and Roberts were incredibly popular here well past their playing days.

Thanks again for posting and I'll try to keep in better touch.

Good stuff.

Thanks, Moose. It's always good to hear from you. I think maybe the next one will feature a real old-timer. I'll have to think on it.
