Rants: It's Only a Game?

X
World Series, Game One:

Instead of trotting out one wounded vet, with a missing left hand, to throw out the first pitch right-handed, why didn't they truck in a couple hundred of the brain-damaged vets in their diapers and bibs to show us what the war is REALLY like?

Liars! Propagandists!

So, does that make Obama the Liar and Propagandist In Chief?

Jeez, Rob, at least Bush and Cheney actually BELIEVED in the wars.

Obama? He believes in Obama. Period.

And what of Congress, Rob - the Democratic Congress which has been in power since January 2007? It's within their power to defund the war, to bring our troops home by refusing to finance their deployment over there...

Funny. I don't see either Pelosi or Reid moving in that direction.

I agree with every one of your points.

That is to say, Bush and Cheney believed in the wars, yes. They did not, however, believe in the wars for the reasons given to the public. Therefore, they, too, have been, and are, propagandists of the worst sort.
Now, Obama, thinks he is stuck with the war because he can't be perceived as having "lost" it. But Harry Reid (I think it was) who said it is already lost, inadvertantly uttered the truth. In fact, it was lost before it started. It has never been "winnable." It has always been destined to waste precious lives while causing more harm than good.

Finally, however, whether Obama is as guilty as Bush/Cheney has very little to do with the point I am making, which is that the uniformed right-handed hurler whom they put on TV for the rubes last night is hardly representative of the true cost of this, or any other, war.

Well, we're in total agreement about that too, Rob.

Listen. Rob. If what we have now here in this country is "democracy," give me a benevolent dictatorship.

I liked this particularly:

'My own definition is that "democracy is the illusion that my wife and I, combined, have twice the political influence of David Rockefeller."'

That's the crux of the scam, right there. Both here and abroad.
