Readings: Consequentialism...

...lifts its lovely head again.

Consequentialism refers to those moral theories which hold that the consequences of a particular action form the basis for any valid moral judgment about that action. Thus, from a consequentialist standpoint, a morally right action is one that produces a good outcome, or consequence.

This is certainly a topic on which reasonable persons can differ. Unfortunately, it is children who suffer most, while stiff-necked adults quarrel.

Thus... would a group of highly skilled consequentialist vigilantes PLEASE take the bull by the horns and start knocking off corrupt American politicians...!

(The above is kinda an inside reference to an ongoing back and forth over at another blog.) (*WINK*)

Throwing the bums out of office would be sufficient.

Actually... no; it wouldn't be.

The GOP was "thrown out" in '06. Big deal. Out with corrupt Republicans, in with corrupt Democrats.

I'm absolutely serious when I say that I pray someone or some group of someones with far more courage (and skills necessary to achieve the goal) than I have begin assassinating corrupt politicians. That's the only message that has a hope of making an impact.

That's ridiculous. What would you replace them all with--a military junta?
Politics is a dirty game. It attracts covetous, ambitious, ego-driven players, who are ready and willing to "do what it takes."
'Twas ever thus. Get rid of one, and three more like him will line up to take his place.
All of that said, murder is not to be condoned, for any reason.
