Who You Callin' "Christian?"

X
The more I read the comments made in response to posts like this one, the more I wonder how Catholics can consider themselves to be “Christians?” It becomes obvious that the most “Catholic” among them just don’t get it.

But when the Supreme Pontiff of their church is prancing around a huge castle, encrusted in gold and laden-down with jewels, I guess this is not surprising.

It is no wonder that they regard “proof-texting” with fear and loathing.

I understand your point. The CC is also exclusive. I should have made that point in my last comment there, instead I implied it. The materialism of my church overshadows the spiritual foundation which influenced my return to Christianity and by clinging to this materialism and the tradition it represents, the leaders and their followers set themselves apart and above as exclusive. They are the rich who refuse to give up everything.

Hi, Ron. I posted this here because Matt would not post it a VN. I understand his reasons (particularly w/r/t the provocative language I regrettably chose to use), but I still believed my comment to be germane to the point he was making. I just should have presented it differently if I wanted to see it on that comment thread.

Good Sunday Rodak. Here are the 3 readings from today's mass that you might find interesting. Deuteronomy 4: 1-2, 6-8; James 1: 17-18, 21b-22, 27; and Mark 7: 1-8, 14-15, 21-23. The traditions of men was not discussed in the homily.
Man I'm having trouble proving I'm not a robot. Maybe I am.

Thanks, Ron. I read the verses. The only Reality is in Theophany. The rest is word-games.
