Rob, obviously words, especially for someone as ineloquent as me, are at a loss at a moment such as this. However, I remember what a good cyber-friend you were when I lost my dad a couple of years ago.
All I can say is that you were obviously fortunate to have such a wonderful mother, as "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." So, even though I never met her, I know your mother had to be a wonderful, wonderful human being because of the talented, humane son she produced.
The only thing I can really say from my own experience is that the words of this R.E.M. are very true, and I wish you and your family nothing but the best
Oh EG... You and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers. Much love to you my friend..I share words that were recently shared with me at my time of loss:
"When he shall die Take him and cut him out in little stars And he will make the face of heav'n so fine That all the world will be in love with night And pay no worship to the garish sun." ~William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet
I am an introverted blue collar pilgrim, surviving near the center of the continent, on the fringes of a shopworn civilization. I abide in rooms full of partially-read tomes, each bookmarked with the fragment of a shattered illusion.
Everything which is inspired, heroic or saintly is derived from contemplation.

Thank you so much, Marie Therese.
Rob, you have my deepest condolences and prayers. I hope that the wealth of memories you have of your mother help to ease the pain of your loss.
Take care, my friend.
